This workshop shows how to create something a bit different using the jar from the candy shop stamp set. Raising the middle of the jar allows little thankful notes to be posted & they act as a feature to the finished project.

Step by Step Instructions
1 Fold a piece of coral card measuring to 5” tall x 6” wide. Select the dies needed for the project. Either the set of labels 28 dies or different shapes could be used.
2 Here the largest die has been swapped for a romantic rectangle die. The rectangle has been cut & embossed using the antique gold card stock.
3 To cut the correct size paper for the card base, place the decorative corner of the paper leaving a 3 – 5 mm gap along each edge. Then snip little marks on the top corner & the bottom left hand corner again leaving a 3 – 5mm edge. Now place the straight edge of the paper onto a guillotine & cut along the edge using the snip mark as the cut reference point. Repeat on the other snip mark to create the perfect straight edges.
4 Place the paper on the ink blending mat & add some of the Tim Holtz vintage photo ink onto some cut`n`dry foam. Start from the mat & move the foam onto the paper & back onto the mat to create a distress edging to the piece. Using the mat will allow the ink to be picked up again & again on the foam making a lovely soft edging.
5 Place the base card onto a scoring board & just score a single line around the edge of the inside of the card to give an embossed line on the base card. Attach the decorative paper to the base card using either glue or double sided tape.
6 Add a 3mm line of wonder tape across the paper towards the bottom of the card. Apply the guipure lace across the tape & trim the edges off the lace to fit inside the backing paper border. Alternatively wrap the lace behind the paper before adding to the card.
7 Cut a 2nd largest labels 28 shape in the plain area of the decorative paper & then cut the next smaller shape in the flowered area of the paper. Also cut another panel the same size of the flower piece in the adhesive film, this could be applied to the paper prior to cutting the shape out as long as it isn`t embossed as it will crack the film backing.
8 Now place the film over the flower panel if it hasn`t already been applied. Tip the micro beads over the film & press the beads into the film to make sure they are all secured in place.
9 Add the rectangle panel to the card using foam tape on the lower section of the
panel as the top hangs above the card & then layer up the labels 28 panels onto the panel, again using foam tape. Make a shabby bow out of the vintage ribbon & place a dazzler onto the knot of the bow for added detail.
10 Stamp the jar image onto some frosted vellum / parchment or shrink plastic using the archival ink pad. Allow the piece to dry if it`s on the shrink plastic as you don`t want to heat the plastic up as it will shrink!!!
11 Type or handwrite some sayings or reasons for which you have been thankful for. These will be added to the inside of the jar so need to be small. Cut the lid off the jar & set aside for later on.
12 Place some 3mm wonder tape down the sides & bottom edge of the reverse of the jar.
13 Remove the backing off the tape on the jar & place an embossing tool or a pen behind the top section of the jar. Gently press the sides & bottom edge of the jar down onto the micro bead area. This will allow a gap in the jar opening area so that the thankful notes can be added into the jar.
14 Type or write a `Thankful Jar` sentiment & add to the corner of the project. Add the little notes inside the jar with the most important ones showing towards the front of the jar.
15 Add the lid of the jar at an angle to complete the project.
This project makes a lovely card to give to a special friend to show them why you are thankful to them as a friend.
Or why not make up a jar for yourself & keep filling the notes throughout the year. Then empty the jar at the end of the year. This will show you many reasons for being thankful that past year.
