Tissue Holder Card – Spellbinders Labels 28 WIZS5 – 127

This workshop shows how to create a small tissue holder to house a packet of pocket tissue packs.  It`s something pretty to have placed around the house & given as a gift.

The Cosmic Shimmer embossing powder creates a wonderful colour that matches up so well with the teal ribbon.

Step by Step Instructions

1  Take one sheet of the blue polka dot A4 paper, one sheet of black card & some funky foam. Cut 2 of the each of the papers / funky foam using the largest of the labels 28 die.

Select one set of each of the 3 different types of card / funky foam and stack the 3 pieces together matching the edges up perfectly. Secure the oval die in the centre of the paper using some removable tape before the piece is cut through the Grand Calibur die cutting machine.

Select the beaded elements swirl stamp & place it onto an acrylic block. Ink the stamp with the perfect medium ink before adding the Cosmic Shimmer blue watercress embossing powder over the ink. Heat set the embossing powder using a heat tool.

4 Place the stamped piece onto a non stick craft mat & add the peacock feathers distress ink to the cut`n`dry foam. Working from the mat onto the edge of the paper start to work in a circular motion to apply the ink.

5 Cut a rectangle of stretchy plastic. The plain area found on some toilet roll / kitchen roll packaging. This works perfectly as it will retort back once the tissues have been pulled out and it will be soft on the tissues whilst pulling them out.

6 Fold the plastic in half and make a small slit the length of the oval making sure the plastic has been left whole either end of the slits.

7 Add a small amount of Cosmic Shimmer glue on the inside of the worked piece and place the plastic over the glue making sure the slit is laying down the centre of the oval.

8 Now add glue to the funky foam and the black card & sandwich all 3 pieces together. Make sure each piece matches before gluing & match up [pieces whilst the glue is wet. Add some gold paint around all the edges using the Adirondack dabber. Repeat the same gluing and colouring process on the other 3 pieces without the cut middle which will be the base.

9 Cut a piece of black card to 17.5cms x 14cms. Score down the left hand side at the no.2 box point (2cms) & then the no.3 gate point (4.8cms) & turn the card 90 degrees & repeat the same score lines. Turn the card 45 degrees & score at the no.2 box point to create the top fold.

10 Crease all the score lines up & cut up to the first score line on the left hand side edge as shown here. Then on the 2nd section in on both ends cut a diagonal section out on both straight edges to create a tab for the box.

11 Attach the tabs to the inside of the box flap using the dries clear Cosmic Shimmer glue. Now add more glue to the inside of the other tabs.

12 Before sticking these tabs down onto the edge of the box. This will ensure the tissues stay in place but will give an open end to replace the tissues at any point.

13 Add some more of the Cosmic Shimmer dries clear glue to the base of the box & attach it to the blue side of the other set of labels 28 base piece.

14 The box will lay perfectly into the corner of the labels 28 die.

15 Cut a curve on each side of the top box flaps so that the black card won`t be seen under the oval section where the tissues will come out from. Now stick to tissue lid onto the box lid tabs using the base a guide to where it goes.

16 Here is a close up of the inner box where the tissues are placed & replaced once there need to be refilled.

17 Add a teal grosgrain ribbon to the side of the oval or why not embellish with some Spellbinder flowers. Insert the tissue pack into the box & pull the first tissue out through the light plastic section to finish the project.  A great idea to make as small gifts for Christmas / occasions or to have displayed around the house.

18 The tissues hold up perfectly through the plastic slit.
