Step by Step Instructions

1  Take a piece of 160gsm paper/card & score down the centre to make an A5 card & repeat the same on a piece of thick acetate.

2 Place the botanical die (Cut side down) so the top edge just goes over the fold edge
of the card. This will leave some of the uncut areas on the fold to allow the
card open as a fold.

3 It is often useful to place some low tack tape to die and then onto the cut plate to make sure the die doesn`t move whilst being cut.

Now cut the prepared piece through the Grand Calibur. Run the piece through 2 or 3 times as the weight of paper will be 320gsm as it’s folded.

5 Remove the die and move it along and match up the design to the last edge of cut work & secure it in place with some more low tack tape.

6 Now place the piece through the GC again passing it through 2 or 3 times to ensure the piece is cut. Once done very gently ease the card open to reveal the delicate cut.

7 As the card has 2 sides of paper/card to cut through some of the cut pieces will stick to the second layer but these will just need to be poked through using a pokey tool. If a piece of wax paper is used when cutting it would help to elevate the problem.

Here is the cut piece showing the small folded edge at the top of the design. Use small decoupage snips to cut & release any pieces that haven`t been cut within the design – although by using 160gsm paper there shouldn`t be any problems.

Place the plain borders on the bottom of the card onto a score board. Score a line just below the intricate cut design. Measure half the width of the plain border & score a 2nd line. Repeat this step on the other plain border.

10  Crease upwards the first score line under & over the delicate cut panel. Ease this in gently to ensure a nice crisp finish.

11 Now fold down the 2nd score line to create the mountain fold to allow the card to stand up.

12  Repeat this on the other edge of the card to make the card base complete.

13  Place a line of 3mm wonder tape along the bottom inside edges of the folded acetate.

14  Remove the backing of the tape and place the sticky edge onto the first score line near the delicate cut panel.

15  With the card flat remove the backing of the other end of the acetate & stick it down onto the other side of the design.

16  Now the acetate is in place the delicate inside will have some protection & structure.

17  Place the jewel flower & flourish dies onto a piece of silver mirri. Cut & emboss the pieces through the Grand Calibur machine.

18  Alternatively place the dies onto the Walnut Hollow metal sheet & cut and emboss in same manner. The card design would look great for different wedding anniversary occasions using the metal in the relevant colours or alcohol inks can be used for a mottled effect.

19  Place one of the smaller circle dazzler embellishments in the centre of the flower to add detail to the piece. Alternatively use the pearl version for a different look.

20 Add a shabby bow using the vintage ribbon & place a large circle dazzlers to the centre of the knot. Now add the flourishes onto the acetate using some dies clear Cosmic Shimmer glue and arrange the flowers & butterflies onto the piece.

21 Here is the Close up of the flowers with the circle dazzler embellishment that just finish the piece off. Add a silver embossed `Best Wishes` sentiment to the bottom stand of the card.

Hi there, this is “AWESOME” and thank you for sending me this new card creation but going thru the instructions again on picture “4” do you mean “cut” not “emboss” the first part of the die as if its embossed you wouldnt get the whole die cut! Sorry but I can be a “div” at times!!!! Look forward to your reply….and a HUGE thank you again for all your terrific cards. Was “great” to see Julia and Sue yesterday at Ally Pally they’re just simply the best! take care and best wishes. Babs x
