Step by Step Instructions

Fold a piece of A4 in half & place the romantic rectangles die cut side up on the Grand Calibur base mat. Lay the folded edge of the card onto the die making sure the folded edge doesn`t touch the outer edge. Place some low tack tape on the card & on the base plate to secure card whilst cutting the piece.

This photo shows how just the outer edge of the die is seen next to the folded edge of the card. This will give the card the joins needed to make the folded base card. DO NOT use thick card for this as it will not cut the intricate design out on both sides of the card – 160gsm is an ideal weight of card.

Place the prepared piece through the Grand Calibur machine & cut the card out.

4 Once the piece is cut the card will have the folded spine needed to create the base card.

Alternatively if a heavier card is needed then cut 2 whole die shapes out & place a small amount of clear glue along the top edge of the panel.

Before matching the 2nd topper up & sticking the 2 panels together. This will give the join needed to make the folded card.

Cut & emboss the oval floral shape out of matching card. Place the largest classic oval die in the centre of the oval & secure in place with some low tack tape. Always add the tape onto the surface that will be removed so there will be no tape marks once piece is embossed.

8   Here is the floral frame with the oval cut out which gives a different look to the solid shape. Try using different Spellbinder die to create lovely frame effects.

Either cut another rectangle shape out & trim away close to the pierced dots or alternatively cut a rectangle of card to fit the space.

10  Trim away the corners of  the card so that the dots are removed & the rectangle sits nicely on the base card. This will allow the base card piercing to be seen.

11  Cut another rectangle out of white card slightly smaller than the previously cut card.

12  Take the shaded lilac ink pad & place the largest of the rectangles onto the craft mat. Swipe the ink pad directly around the edges of the card to create a solid ink border. Set aside to allow the piece to dry or dry using a heat tool.

13  Now take the small floral stamp from the Eco Green garden chic set. Use the dusty concord & shaded lilac ink to create a random stamped pattern over the card.

14 Cut & emboss a solid & filigree butterfly from the Donna Salazar `Wonderful Wings` Grand Shapabilities die.

15 Add some shaded lilac to the edges of the solid butterfly by using the ink on the cut`n`dry foam. Repeat the same on the filigree butterfly & also stamp over the filigree butterfly using the small floral stamp.

16 Layer the 2 prepared rectangles onto the base card using foam tape on both layers for added dimension. Attach the tips of the butterfly to the floral oval frame.

17  Once the glue is dry on the butterfly turn the piece over & add 3d glue around the floral oval at regular intervals.

18 Now add the oval over the stamped panel on the card. Attach the filigree butterfly to the solid butterfly using 3d glue & add a small bow to the corner of the card.

19 Make pearl dots using the pearl Cosmic Shimmer glue over the pierced dots on the oval. This is optional but the piercing allows an easy line to be followed when applying the glue dots.

20  Here is the side view of the butterfly filigree card.
