Step by Step Instructions

1 Secure the largest Grand oval die that will fit on the grungeboard with some low tack tape.

1

Place the grungeboard & die through the Grand Calibur machine, using the base plate, the embossing plate & few sheets of card to thicken the sandwich. I have never had a problem passing the grungeboard through the machine in a normal sandwich but NEVER force anything through the GC so please use the built up sandwich to ensure the safety of your machine. Once cut it will have only marked the reverse side of the grungeboard.

2

3 The cut will have almost gone through the grungeboard so just take a pair of scissors and follow the edge & cut the shape out.

3

4 For the front panel of the photo frame place the same size die on some Grungepaper & add a smaller die positioned more to the top of the grand oval & secure in place with low tack tape.

4

5 Cut the prepared piece through the GC machine. Here are the front & back of the frame panels.

5

6 Cut a curved rectangle shape & score it down the centre of the piece & across 2cm`s down from the top edge.

7 Fold the rectangle piece in half & just place the folded 2cm tab onto the reverse side of the frame so the end of the piece just touches the bottom of the oval. DO NOT glue at this stage.

7

8 Place the frame pieces on the non stick craft mat & swipe the dusty concord distress stain over the front & back of the whole oval. Now add the stain over the rectangle stand & allow to dry.

8

9 Repeat the same on the cut oval panel. Once the base layer of colour is dry why not add dots from the dauber to add interest to the piece or use a small stamp with the dusty distress ink for detail.

9

10 Use different distress ink pads to add random colours to the small Eco Green garden chic stamp. This will be used to cut the blossom shapes from.

10

11 Place the different blossom & bitty blossom dies over the stamped piece & cut out the shapes.

11

12 Once the shapes are cut distress some of the edges using the dusty concord ink & leave some of the shapes plan.

12

13 Roll up the blossom flower shapes starting from the outer edge & secure in place with some glue on the base of the cut piece.

13

14 Take some of the finished flowers & spritz with antique rose Cosmic Shimmer mister.

14

15 Cut some of the leaf shapes from the bitty blossom die using some green card. Once the leaves have been embossed run the peeled paint distress marker down the veins.

15

16 Now just wipe your finger over the piece to blend the ink into the veins. This just highlights the leaf creating a lovely effect.

16

17 Take the prepared flowers and run the edge of the dusty concord distress markers over the edge of the flowers to highlight & add depth the petals.

17

18 Glue the folded panel together & then glue ONLY the 2cm tab to the reverse of the frame using the Cosmic Shimmer glue leaving the rest to make the stand.

18

19 Add glue to the reverse of the frame leaving the top section free of glue so that a photo can be added. Add a photo either before or after the front panel of the frame is stuck down. It just depends if you want to change the photo at any point.

19

20 Here is a close up of the bitty & blossom1 flowers. The leaves & foliage die have been added along with a 2 tone ribbon bow.

20

21 A photo of lavender has been added for this project but you could add a stamped image or photo – it`s up to you. Have fun.

So pretty Suzanne – what a lovely gift idea. After splurging out on more spellbinders I think I have everything to complete this one. After 9 weeks I am now allowed to use my thumb again although in a limited way – but I’m finally getting somewhere. Itching to craft again and when I do there’ll be no stopping me!
