Step by Step Instructions
Prepare both of the peacock stamps by mounting them onto some Umount repositional foam & placing one onto an acrylic block ready to stamp with. For this project matt black card stock has been used to add depth to the piece but easily different colours could be used.
In the drawing ink lightening solution pack there is an empty bottle, this is ideal for adding a small amount of the Cosmic Shimmer mist. This will allow a fine control tip which colouring in & will extend the colour options too. Make sure the mister is mixed up well so all the mica is evenly distributed before adding to the bottle.
Swipe an anti static bag over the black card before stamping the image using the Perfect Medium ink pad & then apply the bright gold embossing power over the ink before heat setting each image. It will add interest if the peacock image is stamped slightly below each other as the pair will become close together.
Select the blues & greens from the garden set of the drawing ink and start to build the blues up. Also use the midnight ink that was added to the spare bottle to add a different shade of blue to the piece.
Now add the greens to the design until the whole image is complete. Allow the ink to dry which won`t take long. Cut this image out using the Grand Labels 1 die before added the glossy accents in the next step. This will give a nicer finish to the finished piece.
Go in and add the glossy accents to the sections on the peacock image. Add blobs to each section rather than over the whole piece as it will add to the finished look. Set aside to dry.
Take another piece of matt black card or thick paper & spritz the midnight blue and then dry with a heat tool, now add a mist of patina & dry before adding the tarnished gold mist to finish the backing paper.
This next set of steps will show how to achieve the gold leaf effect over the misted backing paper by stamping with the Perfect Medium & adding the gilding embossing powder.
Stamp the feather image onto the backing paper using the P/ Medium ink pad. Sprinkle over the gilding embossing powder& have the gold leaf ready to be placed over the feather once the powder has been heated.
Quickly place the gold leaf over the heated powder and press the gold leaf into the heated image.
Gently rub away the excess gold leaf using your fingers.
Take the Scrub it Rub it pad and making sure it is rubbed flatly & not at an angle go over the gold leaf & remove the excess to achieve the finer detail of the stamped image.
Continue with the same process and add the feathers toward the outside of the paper as the inner section will be covered over with the peacock topper later. It is important to work each feather at a time as the embossing powder needs to be warm before adding the gold leaf.
Here is a close up of the variegated colours that give a wonderful effect to the piece.
Trim the backing paper to fit the size of the base card & mount onto some gold mirri board.
Add a gold line around the edge of the peacock panel by using a gold Ranger pen or with gold embossing powder. Cut 4 of the largest Fleur De Lis squares in gold mirri & attach them to the backing panel using foam pads so the edges just show underneath the peacock panel.
Add the main topper to the piece & attach a bow to the bottom corner of the card. Attach 2 of the charm keys over the knot of the ribbon to embellish and complete the project.
Here is a close up of the keys & another small piece of ribbon has been added compliment the colour scheme.
