Step by Step Instructions

1 The ribbon for this project will need to go from the base of the bauble & be long enough to make a bow at the top. Once the required length has been cut, loop some cotton around the folded ribbon.

1

2 Pass the thread through the small hole in the Tim Holtz bauble finding & pull the thread until the folded thread passes through the small hole.

2

3 This technique is great when trying the thread something that is too thick & fiddly to go through the hole. Either leave the ribbon doubled up.

3

4 Or pull one end of the ribbon to make just a single length through the hole.

4

5 Select different colour sheets of card for the project. Here odd pieces have been used as they will be all altered later to finish up all coordinating.

5

6 Cut & emboss the largest bauble die through the Grand Calibur machine.

6

7 Repeat this process on the different card until you have 9 baubles.

7

8 Distress the edges of the baubles using the cut`n`dry foam & the seedless preserves ink pad.

8

9 Continue to distress the edges of the white card baubles using the same ink pad.

9

10 Now without inking the cut`n`dry foam anymore, continue to dab the ink towards the centre of the bauble leaving one area almost clear. This will add shading to the piece.

10

11 Place the cut & embossed shape back in the die and distress the edges again. This will leave a lighter edge to the piece.

11

12 Take the `201` numbers from the clear stamp set and stamp the numbers onto the bauble leaving a space for the 2nd `1` to be filled in afterwards.

12

13 Go back in and stamp the remaining `1` to complete the date. The seedless preserves ink pad has been used for this number.

13

14 Stamp the swirl stamp over the other baubles to add a nice feel to the piece. Heat set the ink before continuing onto the next steps.

14

15 Score each bauble straight down the centre. It is essential that the centre is found to make all the pieces fit together later.

15

16 Start gluing the baubles together and complete until half of the bauble 3d shape is complete.

16

17 Continue to line up the top and bottom edges of the bauble as you glue it together.

17

18 Alternate the different coloured panels to add to the finished effect of the 3D bauble.

18

19 Take the prepared ribbon & stick it down the centre of the piece making sure the pearl stops just at the tip of the bauble.

19

20 Now carry on adding the folded baubles until all 9 have been added. Now glue on the first & last bauble before sticking the panels together.

20

21 Make sure the top edges are all stuck together. If not add a small amount of glue into the gap.

21

22   Here is a close up of the different sides to the 3D bauble.

22

23 Tie a knot towards the top of the ribbon to secure a loop to hang the decoration on.

23

24 Now add an organza bow to the top of the bauble for added detail.

24  25   Apply some of the self adhesive pearls to the finished piece. The pearls can be cut into smaller sections making them go further on the project.

25

26 Here just a small curl adds detail to one side of the bauble.

26

27 Add a larger string of the pearls onto the mirri section as they will reflect in the lights of the tree.

27

28 Here is the finished project ready to hang on the tree or wherever you wish to use it.

28

Have a Merry Christmas
