Step by Step Instructions
1 Take a piece of card 32cm`s x 16cm`s ( & it`s optional if you punch a decorative edge on the 2 end panels, but be sure to leave the card longer to account for the piece being trimmed away) Score at 4cm`s, 12cm`s, 20cm`s, 28cm`s & finish at 32cm`s, turn the card & score at 4cm`s, 12cm`s & finish on 16cm`s
2 Cut away the centre 2 panels as marked by the x`s in the previous step. Cut straight slits up to the first score line on the other 4 outer sections. Crease all the embossed lines ready for the next step.
3 Place strong wonder tape on the corner tabs of the outside of the box. Now remove the red backing and fold the tabs to make the box shape as shown on the right hand side of the photo.
4 Repeat on both ends so you will get the base of the box to close up as shown here.
5 Cut another piece of card to 23.4cm`s x 23.4cm`s and score at equal spaces of 7.8cm`s in a landscape & portrait position. Snip along the embossed lines on the left and right hand side of the card leaving the top & bottom lines uncut.
6 Crease all the embossed lines.
7 Either use the wonder tape or a wet glue to secure the tabs to make the box base.
8 Stick the box to the centre panel in the already prepared box base.
9 As the measurements are slightly smaller than the box then the outer casing fits perfectly when the sides are closed up.
10 Cut pieces of the vintage shabby paper to 7.2cm`s x 7.2cm`s & cut some in half for the
side panels of the box. Distress the edges of the paper using the cut`n`dry foam & some Victorian velvet ink.
11 Attach the panels to the outside and insides of the box.
12 Cut a small scalloped circle and ink the piece with the die still in place as this gives a light border when the die is removed. Cut a larger mat in a brown card.
13 Stamp with the black archival ink and quickly add the clear embossing powder over the ink before setting with a heat gun.
14 Colour Tatty`s hair in using the brown drawing ink and use the pale tones for the face
& dress. Go back into the hair once it`s dry and add more brown in places to give shade to the hair.
15 Loop a long length of thin ribbon and secure it down on the left hand side of the lid.
16 Attach the larger circle to the box making sure you only stick down the left hand side of the circle.
17 Wrap the ribbon under the box and thread through the loop you have just made.
18 Wrap just one thread around the loop again before finishing off in a bow.
19 Thread some of the 2 tone ribbon under the white bow & tie into a bow. This last ribbon won`t ever have to be removed.
20 Place paper flowers onto the circle topper to embellish the piece. Place a decorative pin into the glue of the flowers to finish the piece.
21 Take a piece of card no larger than the 7.8cm`s width of the box & ink the edges of the
card using the Victorian velvet ink. Wrap a piece of the shabby paper around the card and secure at the back. Wrap a pair of socks around the card and with the ends at the front pass the hat pin through the socks and pierce the end into a flower bud.
22 Place the gift in the box & maybe make a matching card to compliment the project.
23 This is a nice way of making a small gift look more than it is.
Smaller Box Measurements
Smaller Boxes can be used by changing the measurements and using A4 card
Cut the card to 24cm`s x 12cm`s
& Score at 3cm`s, 9cm`s, 15cm`s, 21cm`s & finish at 24cm`s
turn the card and score at 3cm`s, 9cm`s and finish on 12cm`s
Make the inner box size 17.4cm`s x 17.4cm`s and score at 5.8cm`s across and down the card to make the box.
