Step by Step Instructions

Print off an A4 landscape paper from the Tatty Button cd rom & cut the width to 23cms wide. Use the image composer to make the sunflower backing paper. Fold over the left hand side edge to 5.5cms & repeat on the right hand side. This measurement is used with the Grand labels 4 die and will ensure the centre of the die meets at the gatefold point & the edges of the card aren`t cut on the fold line to create the wrap effect.

1

Place low tac tape to the outside of the die so it doesn`t mark the card & place it through the die cutting machine.

2

3 Open out the cut piece and score 7mms in from the fold line that is already there. Repeat this on the other score line to create the depth needed on the wrap to house the seed packets and card later on.

3

4 Crease the 2 score lines to create the depth to the wrap and place a strip of double sided tape to the outside edge of the wrap. Peel back a small amount of the tape backing and crease it on the diagonal to make a tab.

4

5 Line the wrap edges in place and pull the tab to secure the piece together.

5

6 Cut a panel of card using the largest labels 4 die & swipe the peeled paint distress stain over the panel & allow to dry.

6

Cut small pieces of the sunflower card using the smallest of the labels 4 die, these will act as stoppers for the seed packets.

7

Cut plain card too and distress using the old paper ink pad.

8

9 Print a sheet of toppers from the Tatty cd or make your own design up. Cut tatty & the sunflower out using the 5th size labels 4 die.

9

10 Distress the edge of the topper by dabbing the peeled paint distress stain over the topper edge.

10

11  Place the topper onto the green panel using foam pads for added depth and then place the piece onto the front of the wrap in a portrait position.

11

12 Print off more backing sheets to make the seed packets. You can have large faded flowers, bold flowers or small sunflowers you decide which what you prefer.

12

13 Cut the backing paper to 21cms x 21cms & score from the left hand side at 7cms & 15.5cms. Turn the card & score at 3.5cms & 19.5cms. Crease all the fold lines ready for the next step.

13

14  Trim away the 4 outer corner sections & then cut a curve on the top & bottom remaining flaps.

14

15 Make 2 packets and for contrast one packet has been made with the pattern on the inside so the design is seen on the inner flap of the packet. To add interest cut a 1cm diagonal line & then cut across the width of the packet and back up with another diagonal line, this will make it easier to get into the packet. Now use a corner punch on the remaining edge. Secure the middle panel and bottom tab down with tape.

15

16 Distress the white packet using the cut`n`dry foam & the old paper ink pad. Pierce a small hole in the top flap & on the back of the packet making sure not to pierce all the way through .Attach the small die pieces with a brad. Use cut off wire stems from paper flowers or a piece of string to wrap around tags.

16

17  Place the seed packets into the wrap and stamp a sentiment along the bottom tab of the packet.

17

18 To make the A5 envelope fit this more Dl shape gift, place the piece onto the back envelope panel and fold the envelope till you get the required depth.

18

19 Trim the front panel so the 2 tabs match up, in the case it`s 3.5cms off the depth. Add the envelope front to the tabs in the normal way.

19

20 Here you have a larger envelope adapted to the size of the project allowing everything to coordinate.

20

21 Mat the topper piece onto a folded card and add ribbon and some printed tatty buttons or real button to finish the card.

21

22 Here is the finished project ready for you to add the seeds or a gift if you prefer

22

23 So a different idea for sending a gift & card all in one, complete with a matching envelope to compliment the design you choose to use.

One Response to Tatty Button Sunflower Seed Packet Gift & Card

  1. Paper Junkie says:

This is a lovely project Suzanne. It’s so bright and jolly. Now that I’ve recently bought the CD (I knew I would eventually) I have everything I need to make this. I have lots of gardening friends so this is ideal to give them a little gift with the card, so I’m going to get a production line going and make a few! Many thanks for your inspired ideas.
