Step by Step Instructions

Stamp the winter wonderland scene on to tissue paper using the archival ink pad. Set aside and allow to dry fully before adding to the candle.

Cut out a piece of wax paper wide enough to go around the candle and some extra, this will be used a handle to hold the candle tight at the back.

Cut around the stamped image leaving a small border. Then wrap the tissue paper around the candle where you want the finished stamped image to be.

Place the wax paper over the tissue paper and gentle heat through the wax paper. The image will darken as it embeds into the candle. Make sure not to overheat the image as this will deform the candle. It will only take seconds on each area.

5  Remove the wax paper to reveal the image on the candle. For a more mottled effect do not allow the ink to dry before heating it and some of the ink will come off on the wax paper.

To make the candle holders cut and emboss the metal foil through your die cutting machines.

Top Tip. For a thicker holder use an opened out clean tin can. If you are not using the holder for a lit candle why not colour the metal using the alcohol inks. Apply the inks to the applicator tool and tap onto the metal. Set aside to dry.

7  To make the tag for the candle, apply the shabby shutter distress ink on the top end of the tree stamp and then apply the forest moss to the bottom of the tree.

Then tap the shabby shutters ink pad on the edges of the bottom of the tree to lighten the effect of the colours.

9  Stamp the image onto a piece of white card and then cut it out, distress the edges using the cut`n`dry foam and the shabby shutters. Mount onto another piece of card to make a tag.

10 Score a square following the inner shape of the die.

11  Ease the metal upwards and nip the corners together to achieve a candle holder. Be careful not to over handle the lighter metal sheet, this way you will get a crisp finish.

12 Use different shapes to make the holders and apply alcohol ink to the holders which won`t have lit candles in and leave the others plain if lighting the candles.

13 Place the candle in a DL cello bag and tie the top with a ribbon. Tie the tag around the collar to finish the design.

14 Try different size candles with different images. Mat a couple of pieces of card along with a square piece of card using the forest moss ink to use the base for the candle snowflake holder and then finish afterwards with cellophane – this way it will protect the metal snowflake.

Lots of different ideas for gifts.
