Step by Step Instructions

1 Select a piece of 240gsm card stock & decide on the colour scheme. Here the Tim Holtz dusty concorde & peeled paint distress stains along with the distress crackle paint are being used.

2 Take the crackle paint and apply a thick layer of the paint onto the card.

3 Allow the paint to dry by air or this process can be speeded up by using a heat tool.

4 Once the paint is dry swipe the distress stain over the paint to colour in between the cracks and add colour if the lighter crackle paint have been used.

5 Whilst the ink is still slightly wet wipe some of the excess stain off the card with a piece of kitchen towel.

6 Once the card is dry tear the edges pulling towards you to show the white of the card. Ink on the torn edge using the dusty concorde distress stain.

7 Place the corner stamp on an acrylic block and ink the stamp using the peeled paint ink stain.

8 Alternatively use the peeled paint distress ink pad to ink the stamp. The ink pad will leave a smoother effect to the stamped image.

9 Stamp the 4 corners of the card before turning the stamp & stamping to create a square towards the centre of the card. This effect is a subtle one but will add dimension to the card.

10 Apply the garden chic stamp to an acrylic block & tap different areas of the stamp with the peeled paint & dusty concorde ink pad.

11 Cut the stamped image out around the border before distressing the edges with the dusty concorde ink pad on some cut`n`dry foam.

12 Place a long length of the wrinkled white ribbon onto the non stick craft mat & apply the distress stain over the ribbon. Allow the ribbon to dry.

13 Cut 2 small discs of card for the centre of the rosette flowers. Add some Cosmic Shimmer glue to the circle & start pleating the ribbon & catching the glue as it`s placed on the card.

14 Continue until the full outer circle is complete & then add another amount of glue to the inner circle & repeat the process again. A 3^rd circle is optional but adds to the effect. To finish the flower snip ribbon off & tuck the end under & glue the end to the card.

15 Allow the rosettes to dry before adding a brad to finish the flowers off. Make sure clear glue is used for this technique.

16 Cut 2 sizes of the Spellbinder label 22 die shapes out of white card. Ink both pieces of card by swiping the distress ink directly over the card to enhance the embossed die edge.

17 Secure the coloured ribbon to the back of the worked piece & finish the ribbon of into a bow at the front. Place the die shapes onto the card using foam pads for added dimension. Now add the 2 rosette flowers to finish the project.

Step by Step Instructions

1 Here the clear modelling film from studio 490 has been used but the white or black film could be used depending on the results required. The grungeboard, a small ring binder & ledger A6 stamp from Creative Expressions is also need for this project.

1 2 Mount the ledger stamp onto some Umount foam & place it onto an acrylic block. Ink the stamp with the black soot distress ink pad. Stamp the image onto 160gsm paper before cutting each sheet out. The distress ink gives a lovely feel to the paper but the archival black ink pad could be used for a crisper look.

3 Use a standard hole punch to punch holes at the top of each sheet.

4 Take a full sheet of the grungeboard & using the seedless preserves ink pad swipe the ink pad directly onto the sheet. For a smoother colour blend the ink into the grungeboard using some cut`n`dry foam.

5 The reverse side is rougher & dusty concord ink pad has been used to colour the surface.

6 Alternatively use the dusty concord distress strain as that will get into the rough surface easier than the ink pad.

7 Take a small leave stamp at stamp at random over the grungeboard using the black soot & dusty concorde ink pad.

8 Stamp the floral image onto the studio 490 clear film using the archival black ink pad.

9 Use a heat gun to dry the ink onto the film before cutting each flower out with a pair of scissors.

10 Apply the purple twilight alcohol ink onto the applicator tool & tap the ink onto the film.

11 Heat the film to enable it to be shaped as required. Bend the smaller flower petals up more to add dimension to the inner piece.

12 Take some paper flowers & dab the distress stain to colour the flowers to match the design.

13 Add the flowers to the centre of the film flowers to complete the piece.

14 Place the ledger pages onto the ring binder & lay the piece onto the prepared grungeboard leaving a small border at the bottom.

15 Punch a small hole through the sides of the ring binder & secure the binder in place with the brads that come in the kit.

16 Stamp a `Just a note` sentiment onto a piece of white card & just catch the edge of the small leaf stamp around the edges to carry the theme through the piece.

17 Punch 2 holes at the top of the grungeboard & pass some of the 2 tone ribbon through the holes to create a loop.

18 Tie a knot in the ribbon & then finish on a bow to complete the handle for the notepad

18 19 Cut some green leaves using the foliage Spellbinder die & tuck them underneath the 3d flower in the top left hand corner of the notepad.

20 The completed project is a very useful pretty project for a quick gift or maybe to add something different to a craft sale.

Why not add a piece of magnetic sheet to the reverse so the pad could be added to a fridge for those all important reminders.

Step by Step Instructions

1 Select a variety of papers for the project. Depending on the amount of days needed try and use groups of papers, here 6 lots of 4 papers have been used.

2 Use small wage packet envelopes for the base of the project & use the Spellbinders labels 22 die for the front panels.

3 Cut 4 shapes in 3 different papers in the pink paper and repeat the same amount in the beige paper.

4 Distress the edges of the label by placing the label onto a non stick mat & inking the vintage photo ink onto some cut`n`dry foam. Start inking from the mat and swirling the foam onto the label & back onto the mat to create a soft feel to the edge.

5 Complete the distressing on all of the label panels. Take some wooden pegs and either paint the pegs to match the theme or move to the next step.

6 Take the cut`n`dry foam & distress the pegs using the vintage photo ink pad.

7 Print off a list of numbers depending on the amount of days needed or alternatively stamp each number onto a piece of card. Place the small labels 22 die over the number.

8 And secure the die in place with some low tack tape.

9 Place the prepared piece through the die cutting machine & repeat the previous step until all the numbers are cut out. After each row is cut out trim away the left over holes so just the top numbers are left. Just pass the end of the plates through the machine.

10 Place the die back over the number & distress the card using the vintage photo ink. This will leave a white border to the shape.

11 Lay 6 piles of 4 wage envelopes and attach one of each of the different colour panels to the envelope. Stick numbers 1 to 6 on the panels using foam tape for added dimension.

12 Remove the top envelopes to reveal another layer & add the same colour panels then repeat the process until all the numbers are used. This will give a uniform look to the piece.

13 Here all the envelopes have been completed.

14 Cut a panel out of thick card using the largest labels one die. Use the smaller die to make a coordinating panel before adding a sentiment panel to finish the piece. Attach a loop & bow to the top of the piece to hang the calendar.

15 Add a long length of the wrinkled ribbon to the bottom of the sentiment panel so the envelopes can be pegged to the ribbon.

15 16 Attach each envelope to the ribbon by adding 1 envelope on the diagonal & then swop by adding 2^nd envelope underneath & peg on the other angle. Repeat until all envelopes are added to the ribbon.

17 Add different gift ideas relevant to the person the calendar is to be given to. Here an image of the lily of the valley has been used as it`s Mays birth flower. Score lines around the image ready to make a seed packet.

18 Cut a small box below the lily image to allow the contents to be seen.

19 Attach a small piece of acetate to the reverse side of the packet & cut away the 4 corner sections. Curve the 2 remaining panels to make shaped flaps to the envelopes.

20 Secure the bottom flap down to seal the envelope shut.

21 Distress the packet using some peeled paint ink. Fill the packet with the lily seeds. Also leave a note inside an envelope saying where a bigger present could be found.

22 Select old photos, pretty flower images, small candles, newspaper cuttings & also make up gifts to add like ‘this entitles the holder to a ……` This means you can add as little or as much as you wish. Just kind thoughts are also well received.

23 Here a bigger gift of a pamper day has been added to the last day of the calendar & all the rest of the envelopes have been added with cuttings, photos or little gifts. The options are endless. If the person has a birthday on the early dates of the month the start the calendar mid way through the past month say the 15^th.

24 Here is the finished project which would be hung with the envelopes hanging down. The idea could also be used to make a gift idea for a person just getting over an operation, opening something daily gives the person something lovely to look forward & would surely help in their recovery.

Step by Step Instructions

1 Select the size backing paper for the project; here a 7” square has been used. Cut lots of different size roses on a 280 / 300gsm card stock using the rose creation dies through the die cutting machine.

2 Stick the rose shapes onto the card using the Cosmic Shimmer glue. Place some of the flowers on the edge of the card & trim away the excess. The off cuts can be used in other areas of the card.

3 Continue to add the flowers until the whole sheet is complete & evenly spaced out.

4 Select the card stock that is going to be embossed and cut it to the same size as the embossed mask. Place the rose creations sheet (face up) onto the base plate. Now place the card stock over the top before adding the tan mat & embossing plate to complete the sandwich.

5 Add a shim of card if the sandwich isn`t tight enough & place the piece through the Grand Calibur machine. Once complete the card will be embossed with the unique design. This is great for coordinating dies to a project.

6 Swipe the broken china ink pad directly over the embossed paper.

7 Use the cut`n`dry foam to move the ink into the white areas around the flowers.

8 Take the ink pad and repeat the swiping of the card to add a build up of colour to the piece. Dry the card with a heat gun or leave to air dry.

9 Spritz the card with a little water.

10 Now go in and lift some of the colour off to create a mottled effect to the piece.

11 Take a small floral stamp & stamp at random over the card using the vintage photo ink pad. Distress the edges of the card using the cut`n`dry & the vintage photo ink.

12 Cut the modelling film with 3 of the rose creation dies. As the film is thick it almost cuts through the film but if it doesn`t just cut around the edges with a pair of scissors to release the flower.

13 Select the colour alcohol inks to compliment the project. Here Adirondack stonewashed & lettuce have been used.

14 Apply small drops of the ink onto the felt application tool.

15 And with the die cut shapes on a craft mat stamp the ink onto the flowers. For added depth to the colour repeat this process to give a build up of the ink.

16 Here are the completed flowers. As the alcohol ink was used they dry almost instantly.

17 Add heat to the flower using the heat gun. BE CAREFUL WHEN TOUCHING THE WARM FILM

18 Now mould the flower petals upwards to add dimension to the petals. Repeat this process on all 3 flowers. The great thing if flower isn`t shaping as you wish it to then reheat the film and mould as desired.

19 Apply a gold edging to the flower using the Adirondack gold dauber, this will enhance the look of the flower yet keep them with a delicate feel.

20 Cut a piece of card slightly bigger than the worked embossed piece & swipe the edges with the vintage photo ink pad.

21 Tie a piece of brown ribbon around the card & then repeat down the edge with the teal ribbon. Tie both pieces off & cut the ribbon at an angle.

22 Cut a classic frame out of soft green card & place a piece of white card behind the frame. Stamp over the piece using the floral stamp and the blue & vintage ink. Glue the 3d flower to the piece.

23 Mat & layer the worked card onto an 8” square card blank. Add 3 teal sky glue dots to the corner of the design & to the centre of the 3d flower.

24 Stamp a sentiment & add it to the corner of the frame. Add 2 paper flowers & some foliage die cut leaves to complete the project.

25 Here is a close up of the 3d film flower. The modelling film is great for making items for jewellery or as used here to add dimension to a card project.

Step by Step Instructions

1 Select one double sided 12” x12” piece of paper for the base card & any coordinating papers for the rest of the project.

2 Measure 1.7/8^thfrom the top of the 12” square paper& mark this point. Repeat this measurement across the top & draw a line to link points up.

3 Trim along the line to remove the excess paper. Here a guillotine has been used.

4 Find the 6” point on the remaining piece of paper that has just been cut. As this width is 12” it will easily be found.

5 Lay the design ruler on the 6” mark & the bottom corner of the paper & draw a line in between the 2 points. Repeat this on the other bottom corner.

6 Now cut along the lines to create one large triangle. This photo shows all the cut away sections which can be used to decorate the piece later.

7 Lay the ruler along one edge, measure and pencil mark at 6 inches (the centre) Repeat this on all sides of the triangle.

8 Join the 3 points together to create an inner triangle section. All these measurements need to be exact to allow the base card to open & close perfectly.

9 Place the design ruler with the `0` on the 6” centre mark of each triangle & measure and mark 2 inches either side of this point. Repeat on all 3 sides. Alternatively on the 2^nd time of making this design, why not measure 4”, 6” & 8” as this will save time as you will know the design.

9 10 Join these points together to form all the measurements for the base star card. Lightly score all the lines & rub away the pencil lines.

11 Why not make a template for this design. Make little nicks on the edge of the paper so the measurements can be easily found and again they will need to be perfectly measured to ensure a crisp finished project.

12 Back to the card. Lay the ruler on the score line and ease the paper upwards.

13 Repeat this on all of the score lines & crease the folds in place.

14 Here is the finished base shape with all the lines creased.

15 Fold the inner fold line into the centre & then fold the 2^nd score line backwards to make the first of the star points.

16 Repeat this on all the remaining sides.

17 Now tuck one of the sides under the next edge & repeat on the next section until the star shape is formed.

18 Use a piece of scrap paper to make templates of the 3 panels. Cut each template slightly smaller than each shape to give a nice border to each piece.

19 Cut out all the pieces for the areas that are needed to be covered. When cutting the triangles flip the template over to get more triangles out of a small piece of paper.

20 Continue until all the shapes have been cut out. Using double sided paper means that not all the areas need be covered.

21 Distress the edges of the panels using the cut`n`dry foam & the vintage photo ink pad.

22 Secure the panels onto the base card using Cosmic Shimmer glue, double sided tape or a tape runner.

23 Add a line of glue to the edge of the triangle panel & attach a decorative ribbon / lace to the piece.

24 Repeat this on all 3 outer triangles.

25 Either stamp or print a sentiment verse. Make a smaller template to allow the borders of the centre piece to be seen.

26 Stamp around the edges of the sentiment before distressing them.

27 Add a vintage ribbon bow, paper roses & hat pins to embellish the project.

28 Attach them onto one of the triangle front panels to finish the piece.

29 Here is the inside of the completed project. This style card really makes good use of small pieces of off cut paper or why not make up your own stamped & inked panels.

30 Here is the closed finished piece with the ribbon embellishment added to compliment the design.

Why not make a small packet for a gift to be added to the centre of this piece.

Step by Step Instructions

1 Take a sheet of the 12” x 12” pink vintage shabby paper & mark at 4” intervals across the top. Measure up 3” from the bottom edge & cut away the excess paper. Trim the 3 sections so there will be 3 – 4” x 9” panels. Repeat this on 3 other sheets of paper if 12 cupcake cases are needed.

2 Secure the scalloped die in place with some low tack tape making sure the scalloped edge is placed as close to the side edge of the paper as it possibly can. Part of the die will hang over the left hand edge of the paper but this is done get maximum use out of a 12” sheet of paper. Cut & embossed the piece through the GC machine.

3 Measure 1 inch down from the top of the cut piece & draw a line from the 1” point to the edge of the first complete scallop.

4 Now to mark the other end of the scalloped piece. Measure up 1” & then measure 1” inwards from that point. Draw a line from this point to in between the 2 whole scallops.

5 Take the largest grand oval die & place the inner edge onto the pencil marks either end of the paper. Draw around the inner oval to join the 2 points together.

6 Trim along the pencil mark to make the cupcake case. Repeat this on all the other scalloped pieces. Use the off cut as a template to save you having to keep measuring the pieces.

7 Distress all the edges using the walnut stain ink pad & some cut`n`dry foam.

8 Add a small amount of the CS glue to the inner edge of the case & wrap the case around and secure the edge to the other end of the paper. The width will depend on the cake case size used when baking but this case size fits a big muffin case. Add a small paper rose & bow to finish the piece off.

9 To make the bases for the bon bon pieces take the small heart die and cut & emboss same hearts. Sand off part of the embossed rose & ink over the rose to enhance the piece.

10 To make the bon bon covers fold a piece of cellophane so it has 6 layers & cut the film out using the largest scalloped die.

11 Place the bon bon in the centre of the cellophane & bring all sides of the film up before tying in a bow with the bakers twine. Stick the piece onto the heart base using Cosmic Shimmer glue.

12 Add some gold acrylic paint to the rim of the pot & allow to dry. Wrap some chocolates in the cellophane to add a mixture to the sweet selection.

13 Cut a few scalloped circles out of the vintage paper & distress the edges with the distress ink. Place the circles onto the memo pins to add to the finished piece.

14 Make the cupcakes & decorate then as you desire. Add the cakes to the finished cupcake cases & place the memo tag into the cake. Please make sure people know the ends of the memo pins are sharp.

15 Place the cupcakes onto the stand ready to add to the party table. Don`t forget to check out part 1 of this project as it shows you how to make the cake stand with secret compartment.

16 Here is the whole completed project using both workshops to create the end result.

17 As the cake stand layers are all nice and solid you can remove each tier and stagger them on a table to widen the display. The secret compartment tin can be then be removed to share the contents.

18 Here is a photo of the top tier being removed with the cakes on to show the sweets & chocolates inside. Why not make different colour schemes to suit the occasion. It maybe for a small wedding, a Christening, a birthday party or just for a lovely tea party with friends the list is endless.

Step by Step Instructions

1 Take a sheet of the plain grey board (often added to strengthen card packs) alternatively stick 2 sheets of 300gsm card together for the same effect. If you have the Grand circle dies then cut the largest circle out. As the board is thick, place it through the Grand Calibur machine, turn the boards over & cut again & the circle shape will have cut through.

2 If you require a larger circle to fit muffin size cakes on the display then draw around a side plate. Here the plate fits the whole width of the A4 sheet & will make a good size area for the cakes.

3 Once the circle has been drawn, cut the circle shape out and set aside for later. Cut 2 circles for a stronger platform.

4 The centre column for the stand can be made using an empty small Pringles tin as it has a lovely solid base or why not cut a width of grungeboard & secure it into a cylinder using the screw brads for detail.

5 If the stand is needed for smaller fairy cakes then an empty parcel tape roll is a great size for the stand or it can be used to the lift the base layer.

6 Cut 2 panels using the TH vintage shabby paper & the 3^rd largest Grand labels 1 die. Use the 2^nd largest Grand labels 1 die to cut 1 panel in beige & 2 pieces in the grey board.

7 Using the circle as a template to cut a piece of matching paper & glue the piece to the card circle using the Cosmic Shimmer glue.

8 Distress the edges of the circle using some cut`n`dry foam & the walnut stain ink pad.

9 Use the Walnut distress stain to go around the grey edges of the circle to add a uniform look to the piece.

10 Cover 1 piece of the grey board only using the beige panel and then add the pink panel to the piece using foam tape for added dimension. Distress the edges with walnut stain. Set this panel aside to cover the braded lid panel later.

11 Decide on the height levels for the stand. Here the parcel roll has been inked using the walnut distress stain & will sit at the bottom of the stand to raise it up off the table.

12 A Pringles tin is used to be the central raised stand. Lay the tin down & cut a width to cover the tin. Secure the paper onto the tin using the Cosmic Shimmer glue.

13 Stick the remaining labels 1 panel onto the reverse side of the thick board before finding the centre of the piece. Now punch 4 holes through the Pringles lid & covered grey board.

14 Place the brads through both pieces to secure the lid onto the panel. The panel can now have the lid added to the pot & it can be removed as and when it is needed.

15 Take the already prepared panel & place it over the brads to cover the piece and to make it a stronger surface.

16 Add strong glue to the rim of the parcel tape roll.

17 Place this in the centre on the reverse side of the circle base tier of the stand.

18 Here is the basic cupcake stand along with the secret compartment.

19 Part 2 of the workshop will show how to make the cupcake cases using the Grand scalloped die & will also show how the little bon bons are decorated .

This project would suit so many different occasions depending on the colours used & would make a nice project for a children’s party, a wedding or a christening.

Step by Step Instructions

1 Take one of the 12” x12” that has the sheet divided into 4 x 6” square panels. Cut horizontally across the middle of the page.

2 Score down the centre line of the cut piece. Top Tip - Score lightly & then turn the piece over a score again as this will make sure the spine won`t crack if you are a bit heavy handed with your scoring.

3 Now score in half 4 pieces of A4 160gsm pieces of white paper.

4 Select a labels 1 die that will fit within the folded square cover & place the edge of the die over the folded edge of the white card. Use low tack tape to secure the die in place.

5 Place the piece through the Grand Calibur machine. Emboss the piece for an added feature to the page. Using this technique will allow the page to have a folded edge at the spine.

6 Repeat this process on the remaining 3 pieces of white card.

7 For quickness with this project the `JustRite` Shabby Chic Labels 4 will be used as they can be stamped & then cut out using the labels 4 Nestibilities dies.

8 The stamps come on a hard covered image indexed panel complete with holes to store them in a binder.

9 Stamp the different images using the Nick Bantock brown ink pad onto some 160gsm paper. Place the labels 4 dies over the image and secure in place with some low tack tape.

10 Cut each piece out & cut just the words out on one of the pieces to decoupage it later.

11 Decide on the feel of the colours for the project. Here pinks, blacks & browns have been picked. Often laying all the pieces out makes you think of different ideas.

12 Distress the edges of the front cover using the Tim Holtz Victorian velvet ink pad.

13 Cut a panel using the labels 1 die and the same shade of paper. Glue the cut shape onto the front panel of the card.

14 Snip the pearls on the acetate to divide the swirls up into smaller pieces.

15 Lay thin strips of the pearls on the lower section of the book. This way you can completely change the feeling of the pearls.

16 Distress the edges of the pages for the book. Here cut`n`dry foam has been used for the top page and then the distress pad has been used directly onto the page on the lower piece. This just shows how you can achieve different effects from the same ink pad.

17 Place the pages into the front cover and pierce a hole through the spine of the card. Repeat this a bit further up the spine.

18 Poke the ribbon through the hole. Use a pokey tool to help the ribbon through. Pass the other end of the ribbon through the other hole.

19 Now pull the ribbons so it leaves a nice flush ribbon across the inside of the book. Tie the ends into a bow to hold all the pages together.

20 Add a small black bow under the 2 zipper roses that have been added to the centre of the swirls.

21 Distress the edges of the cut stamped images using the Victorian velvet ink pad.

22 Stick the pieces on each of the right hand side pages in the book.

23 Add the larger label to the front panel using foam tape for added dimension. Add the smaller decoupaged piece to the centre of the label.

24 Here is a close up view of the front cover. Using this technique for the book means you can add many layers of folded card to the piece. Why not add 3 groups of paper & 3 bows up the spine so the pages don`t get to bulky. The ribbon can be untied to remove any pages if needed.
